07 Mar 123-Reg Hosting Disaster strikes again!
Yes its happened once more, 123-Reg has suffered something of an issue causing it to replace a large number of users websites with backups dating back to August 2017! Some website owners even complained that their sites had been taken offline completely.
We don’t like to hear of any issues like this and appreciate the massive impact it has on website and business owners when their site disappears off the web and worse still, with no promise of it ever being reinstated! We’ve written about this before and cheap web hosting is something we come across daily, more as a problem, then as a cheap solution. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for and the temptation to save a few pounds a year on hosting site/s can become a very costly gamble when something like this happens.
There are a multitude of cheap online hosting companies and solutions and in the main, they do a job. What is often not clear is that you as the website owner are responsible for looking after and managing your entire site yourself. That includes maintaining site files, backups, fixing issues when they arise, ensuring the site is SEO optimised and a lot more besides.
So now is the time to think about and assess if your website is safe in its online home. That it will be there tomorrow, the next day and long after and if like most businesses, the site is important to you, then you should check that you are covered and protected should the worst happen.
If you’re in any doubt or would like some advice and support with your website hosting, please get in touch and we can help advise and offer you safe, managed hosting solutions from as little as £5.00+VAT per month to meet your needs. They say things come in 3’s – act now before it’s too late!
