17 Jun Happy 10th Birthday WordPress!
Back in the old school, at the top of our web designer wish-list was a desperate need for a sensible platform on which to publish our content online. Then out of nowhere our dreams came true with WordPress. So congratulations to the creators of WordPress; Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little who see their baby turn 10 years old this month. Since its launch, it has become one of the most well-known Content Management Systems (CMS) in the world, powering almost 20% of all online content. It features one-click installs, makes building your own website easy peasy lemon squeezy and offers an array of plug-ins, themes and services.
Within 10 years, WordPress has accumulated around 70 million websites, including some of the world’s biggest communicators like; CNN, Reuters World News Agency and The New York Times, who all use the platform to publish their company blogs.
So a slightly overdue batch of Happy Birthday wishes and the mother-lode of kudos laden thanks to WordPress are in order!
