As of 30th October, Facebook will be removing grey verification ticks on pages. Available to all pages who could verify their details, the grey ticks next to page titles were introduced in 2015 to show which pages for businesses and organisations are authentic.
They’re being removed as people are finding them more confusing than helpful, as people were unclear on what it was representing. Up until this change, there have been two kinds of verification badges: the grey tick and the blue tick.
The grey badges meant that Facebook confirmed that this is an authentic page for a business or organisation.
The blue ones are here to stay. If you see a blue badge on a page or profile, it means that Facebook have confirmed it is an authentic page for a public figure, mass media company or brand. But keep in mind than not all public figures, celebrities and brands on Facebook have blue badges.
This won’t affect search results, or how your page operates, but if you want to prove your page’s authenticity, you must ensure your profile is complete with up-to-date information, a profile picture, and correct contact information.
