The Importance Of Clearing Your Cache And Browsers The Importance Of Clearing Your Cache And Browsers
Clearing cache & browsers | Silvertoad, Luton

Your internet browser has a folder in which certain items that have been viewed or downloaded are stored for future use, which helps to speed up web browsing. This information is held in a Cache folder. Browser cache contains records of every item you have viewed or downloaded while using the web. Although caching makes loading of web pages faster, you sometimes may want to overrule the function. One of the most common examples of this here at Silvertoad, is when clients want to view changes that have been made recently to a website for example. We’ve created this handy guide as a quick reference which we hope helps!

To ensure you see the latest version of a page or site you need to clear the cache memory, the way in which this is done is by doing a ‘force refresh’.

How do I do that?

To force refresh, just click both control (Ctrl) and the F5 button simultaneously on your keyboard – though this can vary dependent on your browser and operating system. Often a simple Ctrl F5 will not work and you will have to do it manually. Here’s a guide below on how to clear your cache correctly across various browsers and devices.
