Since the beginning of the pandemic, Facebook has been rolling out new ways to help people stay connected worldwide. As the usage of their apps (Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram and Portal) has more than doubled in some places across the globe, it’s no surprise they’re looking at ways to make our connections to friends and family even more connected.
With social distancing enforced around the world, video conferencing has seen a massive increase, with one of the biggest names to emerge being Zoom.
News has spread that Facebook is planning to roll out their video conferencing tool “Messenger Rooms” – a bigger, better, and more accessible style of video calling!
One of the highlights is the ability to have up to 50 users on a call at any time, and no time limit – something that usually costs £12.99+VAT per month, with Zoom. It also comes with a heap of other features including:
- The choice of public, open calls, or private, locked calls
- Use from Messenger or Facebook (with plans to integrate with Instagram, WhatsApp and Portal), but no need to have an account!
- Augmented Reality effects like filters and backgrounds (popular on Zoom, Snapchat calls, and standard Messenger calls)
The feature will start rolling out very soon, and available worldwide over the coming weeks and sure we will all be experts using it before long!
